Our Lake County Star
Chairman, Anthony Jack Voted Lake County's Inspirational Leader
of Year
On February 11, at the Lake County "Stars" awards banquet
and celebration, Chairman Anthony Jack received a special award
as the Inspirational Leader of Lake County.
An annual event sponsored by the Lake County Publishing and Konocti
Harbor Resort and Spa, recognizes Lake County residents for contributions
to the community for the previous year. Chairman Jack was nominated
for Man of the Year, however because his contributions were to
the Tribe and Big Valley Rancheria, his nomination did not fit
the criteria. The judges however, felt a need to provide an award
to our Chairman for his contributions and leadership of the Big
Valley Band. They created a special award to honor his work.
Through this award, Chairman Jack was recognized for his leadership
as Chairman and the significant progress made by the Tribe during
recent years. Noted in the nomination were the many federal grants
received by the Tribe, the development of the Master Land Use Plan,
the development and implementation of plans for our destination
resort, the distribution ordinance contributing to educational
rewards and elders meals, the many other ordinances/resolutions
passed for creating an effective government, and his quiet and
but effective advocacy within the broader community.
This is the first time a Pomo tribal member has
received a "Stars" Award.
